More Exam Rooms, Better Access, Same Fear Free Care
Mt. Scott Animal Clinic is undergoing an exciting renovation designed to improve your pet’s visit from the moment you walk through the door. We’re expanding and updating key areas of the hospital — all within our existing space — to increase appointment availability, improve accessibility, and enhance our Fear Free environment.
Construction is happening in phases and is expected to be completed in early to mid-January.
🐾 What’s Changing — And Why It Matters for Your Pet
Two New Exam Rooms (Expanding from 4 to 6)
More exam rooms means:
Increased appointment availability
Shorter wait times
Less time spent in the lobby, helping reduce stress for nervous or reactive pets
Better support for our Fear Free commitment, limiting exposure to unfamiliar people and animals
All exam room construction began 12/4/2025, with an estimated timeline of 3–4 weeks.

♿️ New ADA-Accessible Bathroom for Clients
For the first time, clients will have access to a client-facing, ADA-accessible bathroom right off the lobby.
Previously, guests needing a restroom had to be escorted through the treatment area — which wasn’t always possible during surgeries or procedures. This upgrade removes that limitation entirely and makes the clinic more welcoming and inclusive for every client.
Bathroom construction is included in the first 3–4 week phase. -
👷♀️ Built Within the Existing Footprint (No Expansion Needed!)
All renovations are being completed within our current square footage by transforming areas that were previously:
• Excessively large storage spaces
• An oversized lobby
This allows us to improve flow, accessibility, and exam capacity without expanding the building.

🛎 Upgraded Reception Desk With ADA-Accessible Counter
The reception area is being fully refreshed with a new desk that features an ADA-accessible counter, improving visibility and communication between clients and our team.
This portion of the project is expected to take one week. -
🌙 Construction Schedule: Minimal Disruption to Appointments
Our construction partners are committed to being as non-intrusive as possible, performing the bulk of the work outside of clinic operating hours.
You can continue to expect a smooth, safe experience during your visit.
🌸 What About Axel Rose, Our Lobby Axolotl?
Don’t worry — Axel Rose is safe, comfortable, and temporarily relocated to the doctors’ office area during construction. He’ll return to his lobby home once renovations are complete.
You can still see him on our social media!
❤️ Thank You for Your Patience
These improvements are designed to make your visit smoother, more comfortable, and more accessible — for you and your pet. We appreciate your patience and support as we build a better Mt. Scott Animal Clinic for our community.
